Blog 9 & 10

The past two weeks have been wild. I have had the craziest week at work considering that my warehouse manager quit and i had to pick up several hours going from part time to full time. Perfect time for an event like this to happen to. End of the semester exam or presentation due in all of my classes and my brain is just iced. On top of all of this my laptop broke and wont keep a charge. Thank you parents for only living 5 miles away. The project is coming to an end and not going to lie with zero time with the new work load im nervous. I got all my work done and i am ready and feel good about the way our group came together in the end with the whole project. Overall this class has been very informing and i found out that if you have a good idea you should work with it instead of thinking it was stupid.

Blog 7

What i have learned about innovation through the past week would come most from the learder paper i did for class. The leader i chose was Michael Jordan. I think this paper made me think about innovation more because it made me look at all the small things Jordan did to be in my eyes innovative. I really believe that i started looking outside the box to see aspects of him that would be considered innovative. He took a simple shoe contract that many NBA players get and turned it into a multi million dollar name. Our group is finally on track with an idea and we are rolling with it. I think that it helped by going over where we were at in class compared to other groups that made me feel more comfortable with our position on the project. With my crazy work schedual with my manager quitting and picking up more hours i will need to work on getting more done outside of class. I am always thinking of ways to build on the project because i want to get a great grade it just doesnt help that i dont have computer access at all times to get it out to my group besides in work time.

Blog Number 5

The way that i think that blogging can be helpful is getting feedback of ideas that you have. By posting a blog for people to look at and comment on you are able to get many different opinions of your idea from people that you might never have gotten without one. Things that i have learned about innovation from class is that many ideas that I for one think are new and innovative are actually existing ideas that people are coming up with already. It opened my eyes to how people think about changing something to be more innovative and actually act on it. Sure i think of ideas that would make things easier but never pursue it. This came into affect when my group was working on the verge product. We would come up with ideas that we thought were awesome and new, then to find out that there was already a patent on it. This was frustrating yes, but shows that people are thinking of ways to make things easier on people. Our group finally decided on an idea and we are well on our way to finishing the product. I have no complaints about the effort our group is putting in and we all work very well together i think.

Blog Number 2

What i have learned this week in innovation class would be the different ways that groups and businesses can work together without ever being together to complete a project. In class the way that we are using the wiki pages and bloggs to complete our tasks not only makes it easier with people scheduales but also with the pace that you can complete your work. If we use this in school to do things and complete projects without ever seeing our groups face to face is a very innovative thing, and makes me think what else is out there that i don't know about. Things in the news that made me think about innovation this week when i saw it had to do with the group project that we are doing. The company that we got was G.E. The company has moved up in the annual innovative scale. The owner Bruce Nassbaum and the company are using the slogan "ego-imagination" as their new way forward. This slogan is about how they are making their products to be more "green" and help the environment by making their products more eco friendly. They are doing many different things to reach this with the materials that they use, and the way that they use electricity. The group work that my group is working on is coming along very well. We all got the tasks done in the 13 steps and got in touch with each other on the wiki page. I like that everyone in our group is on the same page with how we are going to get the information that we find out to the rest of the group. We also have good communication not only on the wiki page but now through email as well. I didn't know 3 of my 4 group members before this project, but now in the past week did a whole project almost without having to come up with a time that worked for everyone to meet and get it all done in that short amount of time. Our group is moving forward great and I'm glad that they are on my team.

Blog Number 1

The past two weeks in class has been very mind opening. I never realized how important technology has taken over almost every aspect of the workplace. Creating this account on Blogger.com was a great experience. I myself don't even have a facebook account. Since high school i really got completely away from the "social network" scene. The in class work that we did by setting up a blog to easier communicate with the group we were put in to work on our project opened my eyes to wanting to become more up to date with technology. The blog page is helping me become more creative by finding different ways to communicate with my group in other ways than face to face contact, email, and calling one another. It is a creative way to be doing all the group work with really never having to see each other. This is also creative in a helpful way because all the information that the group comes up with is all in one spot and you never have to worry about someone not showing up because their information just needs to be posted and the group doesn't fall behind. Innovation is happening at the place where i work for them at least. They have came up with a new way of bar coding the products so that they can be tracked at all the locations, even store to store. They have also just started updating their website, and asked me to actually help. They know that I'm going to school and the company is a small family owned business so don't have all the marketing people so they asked me to help. I like this blogging thing and might try to use something like it to get customer feedback other than just email. Our verge team i think is a great group. As of now we all get along and I just have a good vibe from everyone i will be working with. When we first started throwing out ideas no one said any ones idea was stupid, but we discussed why it might not work till we reached an item we all felt good about.
